Storytelling in the primary English classroom

This thesis deals with using of storytelling in the primary English classroom. The first part of the thesis is focused on the importance of using stories in teaching English as a foreign language in the primary classroom and the methodology of using the stories. In the research part of the thesis two questionaries were made up. One was given to the primary English teachers and the other one to the children {--} their pupils. The aim of both questionaries was to find out how important for children the stories are, what is their role in teaching English and how they help the children learn it.
Using podcasts to teach English to young learners

This bachelor thesis deals with podcasts as a way of teaching the English language, mainly focused on children aged 5-7 years before the start of their school education. The podcasts are designed to introduce the English language to children with the help of their first language through spoken audio fairy tales without the help of visual aids. The aim of the thesis is to find out whether systematic use of the first language in audio material for beginning young learners can have a positive impact on their motivation and willingness to listen. The aim of the theoretical part was to gain the necessary knowledge to prepare such podcasts effectively. It therefore explores effective ways of teaching English to young learners, the use of stories to teach English, and the role of the first language in foreign language learning. The practical part reports on research conducted among parents of Czech and Slovak children who had not enjoyed listening to English audio materials prior to the research. The parents agreed on testing a series of the author's original podcasts with their children, and observing their reactions. Addressing in selected writings of A. P. Chekhov and its equivalents in Czech translations

This thesis is devoted to the analysis of addressing as a partial translation problem, preceded by basic linguistic characteristics of this language phenomenon and comparison of addressing in Czech and Russian. Based on the theoretical work of leading theorists of translation, own categorization of translation processes was developed within the work. The application of specific translation procedures on selected Chekhov stories was analysed and evaluated in terms of suitability. The work aims to examine and summarize the issues of addressing translation in a transparent way. Key words: A. P. Mysterious creatures

Explore pictures of supernatural beings and other creatures which could be found in current visualizations of Fantasy genres, computer games, illustrations and films. Study and categorize visual and written materials, follow these fantastic creatures, how they look like and how the appearance of them changes through time. Track the source of the appearance by comparing modern sources and older pictures and also by studying old myths and legends. Research what inspiration how impacted the process of creating new concepts. Study and define terms such as imagination and fantasy. Through scientific research, try to map how the children imagine fantastic creatures and from what pictures and text their images come from. What do children find scary? Stories written by athletes: New platforms The Players'Tribune and Bez frází

This thesis deals with the projects of ThePlayersTribune.com and its younger Czech equivalent Bezfrazi.cz. Both websites were created in recent years and their ambition is to change the stereotypical view of athletes brought by traditional media. These platforms give athletes the space to present themselves in their own words and also to be a part of the editing process. Athletes on the websites share their life stories, which are very inspiring and often contains overlap beyond the sports environment. Thus, readers can infiltrate to the lives of famous or less-known athletes, and also, thanks to the first-person storytelling, perceive situations from their perspective. No thesis has dealt with this topic, yet, and so this diploma thesis is conceived as a case study, the aim of which was to introduce, describe the functioning and compare both projects. It deals with their significance for sports journalism, the role of the journalist in mediating stories, verifying the facts in stories and the popularity of stories from the sports environment in general. The diploma thesis also includes own classification of typologically identical stories published on the platforms The Players' Tribune and Bez frází. The stories are qualitatively analyzed. Ota Pavel is known for his belles-lettres, particularly short tales with autobiographical motives. This bachelor thesis aims to point out Pavel's journalistic activity in periodicals, that preceded his literary career. The theoretical segment aims to provide Pavel's contextual portrait in terms of his journalistic activity and mental illness. Practical part contains analysis of Pavel's articles published in the periodicals Stadion and Ceskoslovensky vojak during the limited period. Bilingualism at the czech-bavarian border

The aim of the bachelor thesis was to find bilingual people (Czech-German) living in Czech-Bavarian border region. Afterwards, interviews were recorded with the respondents and transformed into the form of artistic text. The thesis was focused on people born after 1989, and thus it is touching on the phenomenon of again completely penetrable Czech-German border and natural migration in defined region. The thesis used analytical-empirical methods.

The translation is followed by a theoretical part, which includes the analysis of the source text, description of the selected translation method, typology of translation problems and typology of translation shifts.
